I ushered her in the house after which she narrated to me her story. Rita ( not her real names) for confidentiality purpose aged 16 got pregnant when she was in primary 5 last year and this earned her being chased from their home. She could not even go to the home of the boy who made her pregnant as the boy was also young aged 17 in primary 7. She ended up in an auntie's place who promised to stay with her the delivery of the baby. in Dec 2012 she delivered at home of course with the help of the aunt. In January, the aunt told Rita to begin looking for where to go. Rita went through emotional torture, she thought of buying poison so that she and her baby could take and die, she thought of abandoning the baby in the aunt's home, she thought dumping the baby in the nearby bush. One day as life became tough her aunt's place, she moved out and began a journey of unknown destination. she moved and ended in the house of an old woman who hosted her for nearly 2 months. The old woman had her grand son who had already began making advances towards Rita. Having gone through and still in tough times, she decided to move away and eventually ended up in my house. Amazing she told me she had once seen in church. Just as Jesus asked the blind man what he wanted Jesus to do with him, so did I drop the question to Rita. She told me she is willing to do anything so that she can be able to raise her child and be self dependent. I shared about her with my pastor and he told me Rita is just one of the many young girls going suffering.
I am single mother and \i know what it means to be isolated, abandoned, rejected and pointed at by the community after being made pregnant. I have a desire to walk with rejected teenage/ single mothers but of course I need someone to hold my hand. Are there my friend to begin this journey of faith with me?
